AIMA also provides an independent disputes tribunal. It is the recognised FIDI association in Australia, which means that movers with FIDI/FAIM are automatically eligible to join AIMA. Australian moving companies without FAIM are still eligible for AIMA membership but must satisfy criteria which measures their specialist knowledge, resources, experience and financial position.

Only AIMA members are bound by the AIMA disputes tribunal process.

AIMA is viewed as one of a number of international movers organisations that offers reassurance that a move will be handled to the highest possible standards. It is an assurance that a mover business has the proper qualifications and is up to date with what is viewed as local best practice.

A number of businesses list AIMA on their websites as an international accreditation, a mark of quality alongside others such as FIDI. However, the reach of AIMA is fairly limited as it does not have as many members as some similar organisations in other countries.

There is one negative website that indicates that a customers is in dispute with an AIMA members and that receiving a result on the dispute has taken some considerable time.

This person indicates that they would not take an AIMA accreditation too seriously as an indication of quality. However, the website does also state that AIMA provided them with assistance and the dispute does not seem to have been updated since 2010, which indicates it was dealt with.
