The Shore Porters Society Company Profile
The Shore Porters Society was founded in 1498, over 500 years ago. They proudly boast of being the oldest transport company in the world, their origins being a cooperative of porters who plied their trade at the harbour in Aberdeen.
The company was under the auspices of the Aberdeen Town Council until the middle of the nineteenth century. It is now a private partnership with haulage, removals, property and warehousing among its services.
The company has a fleet of 30 lorries and vans which operate out of Aberdeen and Richmond on Thames and 11 warehouses around the UK.
The company has good relationship with major auction houses throughout the world and prides itself on its expertise when it comes to shipping fine art and antiques.
